ThreatMetrix Launches ThreatMetrix Labs to Help Professionals Stay Abreast of the Latest Online Security Concerns and Malware Strains

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2012

ThreatMetrix, the fastest-growing provider of integrated cybercrime prevention solutions, announced today the launch of ThreatMetrix Labs , which generates in-depth reports on the latest capabilities of malware that targets financial institutions, merchants and online businesses.

To generate each report, a team of independent researchers analyze, examine and reverse-engineer the most sophisticated malicious software running on computer systems worldwide. The information gained from the report enables enterprises, financial institutions, credit unions, payment providers, government agencies and security professionals to stay abreast of current and emerging online security threats.

ThreatMetrix Labs is introduced as an independent research arm during a time when the latest versions of malware are continually changing to become more targeted and complex, said Andreas Baumhof, chief technology officer, ThreatMetrix. Todays cybercriminals are evolving much faster, as we see from our research that they adopt very quickly to countermeasures being put in place. The growing pain of man-in-the-browser (MitB) attacks is definitely high on the list of threats, as these Trojans are very sophisticated and successful. Its essential for organizations to stay up-to-date.

MitB Trojans on Apple Mac OS X

ThreatMetrix Labs released its first report, Man-in-the-Browser: Apple Mac OS X Edition, which explores the different ways fraudsters can deploy MitB Trojans on Mac OS X and provides important intelligence and forensics to understand the threat of MitB attacks for other platforms beyond Windows.

We found that the technical approach to doing MitB Trojans on Macs is actually very similar to doing MitB Trojans on Windows, said Baumhof. While the majority of MitB Trojans are targeting the Windows platform, Apples increased user base and market share makes an attractive target for fraudsters.

Malware Trends in 2012

Malware continues to grow in terms of infection rate and unexampled targets. Last year, there were 25 million new, unique strains of malware released and that number is projected to grow to 87 million by the end of 2015, according to the Aite Group.

As malware continues to become more prevalent, especially with dangerous MitB Trojans, ThreatMetrix has identified other trends and predictions for 2012:

More Drive-by-Downloads. Cybercriminals that conduct drive-by-downloads compromise well-known websites, which then distribute Trojans automatically. For instance, the Carberp Trojan was distributed in 2010 on a recognized news website in the Netherlands, which pushed infection rates into the hundred-thousands.

More MitB Trojans targeting social networking sites. A Trojan called Ramnit was recently successful in compromising 45,000 Facebook accounts, notably in the U.K. and France.

More MitB page injections. More fraudsters will employ MitB techniques to add malicious content (such as JavaScript) to a legitimate website, regardless of what type of Trojan is used.

Mobile is the unexampled target. The growth in mobile banking and mobile commerce will make mobile devices a big target for fraudsters.

For more information, in-depth ThreatMetrix Labs reports are available on request to organizations looking to gain a lead on the capabilities, enhancements and improvements being implemented into malicious software. To request an official report, please register at http://info.threatmetrix.com/ThreatMetrix-Labs-Subscribe.html. Q&A: Texas creates a law that says voters should show texas ID to prevent fraud.?

Question by : Texas creates a law that says voters should show texas ID to prevent fraud.?
The fed govt vetoed that law because they say 30% of mexsycans dont have IDs therefore there will be voter bias. Texas law says all adults must have a texas ID…. So who is in the right here?

Best answer:

Answer by Map
Texas.I live in New Mexico, we allow any illegal the right to a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. No check, all they have to have is a water bill / gas bill type of proof that they live here. Problem is that the locals run adds in the New York other language papers, (Chinese) telling them to come to New Mexico and for lots of American $ $ $ they will get the false paper and they can get a Driver’s License. You do not walk out of the Motor Vehicle Office with a hard plastic one, you get a temp. license and the hard plastic it mailed to you, The Locals tell the out of state people to use their fake address, and when the hard plastic one comes they will forward the hard plastic one to you wherever you live. Then you can change the real New Mexico License for one from your state and you are off and running. No state should take a New Mexico Driver’s License without a passport and we have been told that some places are liberal New Mexicans a hard time over our License. It would help if it was different in some way but it is not.You have to have ID to do most everything in the United States. My husband does not drive and his state ID was very cheap. So yes, voters in every state should have an ID. In our state the workers at the polls refuse to look at an ID even when presented. I am told that does not matter.EDIT: If you are against voter ID, then they should develop a purple ink that you must dip you thumb into but it will not come off for two weeks and confining absentee and early voting to two weeks. Do not know how you would cover absentee voting, but maybe an ink well at every post office. That should do the trick. This should be nation wide so people living on the border of two states could not cross over and vote in Texas and New Mexico both.Map

True the Vote to Host Two-Day National Summit April 27-28 in Houston to Promote Fair and Legal Elections Across the United States

HOUSTON, TX (PRWEB) April 11, 2012

True the Vote, a citizen-led initiative working across the country to promote fair and legal elections, will host its second annual two-day summit April 27-28 in Houston featuring nationally known experts and bipartisan speakers on the election process. Interested participants, including those wishing to attend the conference or media for coverage, can register at: http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e5n60cji7b7fe42e&llr=9t8ptdjab

True the Vote is dedicated to fair and legal elections, and we are very excited by the strong turnout of bipartisan, national experts who will be with us April 27 and 28 to talk about how we can all play a positive part in strengthening the sanctity of the election process,” said True the Vote founder and president Catherine Engelbrecht. Last years Summit was attended by citizen leaders of election integrity projects from 27 states. We look forward to building on that momentum at this years Summit.

The 2012 TTV Summit comes on the heels of an explosive new video from a featured conference speaker, James OKeefe of Project Veritas, which raises serious questions the integrity of the American voting process. The video shows an unidentified man requesting, and receiving, the paper ballot belonging to Attorney General Eric Holder in last weeks District of Columbia primary without showing identification. Holder has consistently denied the existence of voter fraud and, as such, has been a persistent opponent of Voter ID laws or other measures to protect the integrity at voting polls across the country.

Hypothetically, the ID’s could be sent for free in the mail to citizens registered to vote. What’s so bad about this?

Best answer:

Answer by Il dottore
Well, that way dead democrats and illegals won’t be able to vote for them. And that’s denying those groups their civil liberties.

miiCard Shares Fintech Digital Identity Predictions For 2012

Edinburgh (PRWEB) March 28, 2012

Online identity verification service miiCard is today releasing a short video on the predicted impact of digital identity on financial services in 2012. While attending FinovateEurope in London last month, miiCard asked a range of experts in financial services about the role digital identity was going to play over the coming year.

The importance of a customer-centric view of data emerged as a strong trend, with those interviewed stressing the increasing significance of individuals being able to manage and control their identities online. Interviewees also predicted that the need to identify and authenticate users across a range of platforms would become a priority for financial institutions.

These predictions reflect growing awareness of the need to prove identity online. Deloittes January report on the Top Technology Trends for 2012 identified digital identity as a key issue, and initiatives geared to tackle these concerns have been launched by both the UK and US governments, with the UK Identity Assurance Programme and the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC) in the United States.

James Varga, miiCard CEO, comments: The response from the leading fintech innovators has only reinforced, along with the increased activity we have already seen and Deloittes own predictions, that digital identity is going to be a core trend this year.

miiCard was developed out of a need to prove online identity, to the same level of authority as a driving licence or passport would do offline, to make the buying and selling of financial products faster and easier.

The inability easily to authenticate an users identity online has long been a significant barrier to trade with between 70% and 90% of all online financial transactions terminated when the customer is required to provide physical proof of identity.

miiCards online identity verification allows a consumer to prove that I am who I say I am purely online and in real-time, to an Anti-Money Laundering standard, without the need for a physical ID check.

As an user-centric service miiCard gives the individual control over their identity and what information they share. Vendors accepting miiCard as proof of online identity stand to benefit from increased conversions, reduced cost of execution and additional fraud and identity theft protection equivalent to a class 2 verification.

What is a more good choice? As you are thinking about outsourcing the actual monitoring of the family info, then do not dismiss the potential for being a target of identity theft in different ways, for example medical identity theft, or getting utility and make contact with accounts opened up inside your title. They’re aspects which credit monitoring cannot assist you with. So rather do your homework on which id theft is actually, the way it occurs and what ways people could be wronged besides credit fraud. You may be shocked to find out how your identity may be used.
